2011 Convention Information

Dentistry in Paradise is being hosted in Barbados from 22nd - 25th November 2011 by the Commonwealth and Barbados Dental Associations under the auspices of Caribbean Dental Programs Inc. This unique convention should not be missed.

Full Registration covers the entire 4-day event and will include all the Congress Lectures, Opening Ceremony, the "Social Programme", coffee, lunches and afternoon breaks. Delegates who do not want full registration can register daily and will be entitled to attend that day's lecture programme inclusive of lunch, coffee and tea breaks. The organising company cannot be held liable for any programme changes that may occur due to unforeseen circumstances. Cost is listed only in Barbados currency which is equivalent to $2.00 BDS = $1.00 US

The Convention many highlights include:
  1. EDUCATION SECTION that will provide delegates with avenues by which they can attain continuing education credits towards higher specialist degrees. Lecturers are Mr. Noam Tamir, CEO of an accredited UK based on-line faculty and Professor Stephen Lambert-Humble who is the National Lead Dean for Dental Care Professionals (DCP) in the UK and has established E-Learning courses for Dental Technicians, Dental Nurses, Hygienists and dentists. Delegates who are interested in gaining higher qualifications and/or updating their knowledge, must not miss this event
  2. BITE-MARK TRAINING will commence with an afternoon lecture on Thursday 24th November by Professor Herman Bernitz, President of The International Organisation for Forensic Odontologists (IOFOS) and leader of the workshop. All delegates will be taught how to identify bite marks and gather DNA evidence.
  3. WORKSHOP will he hosted on the final, day (25th November) and all delegates are requested to attend to obtain a consensus on protocols which members should ratify. It will be preceded with lecturers from the legal profession; Chairman of the Child Care Board; Forensic Odontologists and members of National Dental Associations who will relate their national "Abuse & Neglect" experiences. This programme is suitable for all Dental and Medical Staff.
  4. SOCIAL PROGRAMME will consist of the Opening Ceremony on 22nd, a dinner and cultural show at the Plantation Garden Theatre on 23rd and a reception for which the venue is to be confirmed. All fully registered delegates can attend the socials at no additional cost but there will be a charge for others persons.

CREDITS: Caribbean Dental Program will provide credit hours by monitoring the time spent by each delegate within the academic programme.

*Staff includes Dental Assistants, Dental Nurses, Hygienists, New Zealand Type Auxiliaries, Students, Govt. workers and members of the public.

Full Conference Registration includes all academic lectures for the four days; Hands-On Bite Marks Training; Workshop; morning coffee break; afternoon tea break, lunch and the Social programme BUT DOES NOT include hotel accommodation. Persons registering on a daily basis will only be eligible for that day's academic programme and "Hands-On" where applicable, morning coffee break, afternoon tea break and lunch on that day. A different buffet lunch will be served daily.

Group Packages
Group packages (for ten or more fully registered delegates) will be granted @ 2.5% reduction to be arranged with the Convention Chairman.
