Dr Reisha Rafeek graduated from Guy's Hospital Dental School, University of London in 1990 with BDS. She then worked in general dental practice in London in the NHS until returning to Trinidad. In 1994 she was appointed assistant lecturer at the School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medical Sciences,UWI. She pursued postgraduate studies at the Eastman Dental Institute in London and in 1998 obtained her Master's in Conservative Dentistry with Distinction. While in the post of Clinical Lecturer at the Eastman Dental Hospital she obtained the Fellowship in Dental Surgery (Restorative Dentistry) of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1999. Since then she has been Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at the Dental School and Head of the Unit since 2000. She is a member of the British Dental Association and of the British Society for Restorative Dentistry.

The importance of tooth surface loss as a dental problem has been increasingly recognized. This lecture will provide an overview of the causes, clinical features and management of tooth surface loss (TSL) and will highlight the issues involved in diagnosis, prevention and controlling TSL and also the problems associated with restorative management of these patients.
