"Concepts and Interpretation of Panoramic Radiographs"
Friday, April 17, 2009 @ 11:15 am

This course is opened to all including dental assistants, dental hygienist, dentists. Panoramic radiographs are considered as the one dimensional baseline image provided for most patients and may be replacing or supplementing periapical radiographs. Panoramic machines may seem easy to use but many concepts need to be mastered so that your panoramic images are of diagnostic quality and easy to interpret. Delegates are invited to bring panoramic images for discussion.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Diffentiate between diagnostic and non-diagnostic panoramic radiographs
  2. Describe the steps to constantly produce diagnostic panoramic radiographs
  3. Troubleshoot and correct technical errors that may have occured during the acquisition or processing of panoramic radiographs
  4. Use a systematic approach in the interpretation of panoramic radiographs
  5. Identify anatomical structures and understand the formation of ghost images on panoramic radiographs

"3D Imaging in Dentistry"
Sunday, April 19, 2009 @ 3:00 pm

Although this course is more for dentist, it will definitely be of interest to the entire dental team. The emergence of Conebeam CT (Computerised Tomography) technology has created a diagnostic revolution in dentistry for pre-surgical implant planning, TMJ analysis, orthodontic evaluation, orthognathic surgery, 3rd molar extraction and more. This imaging technology is gaining in interest on the part of general dentists as well as dental specialists and requires additional knowledge and competency level to be able to read, understand, interpret, diagnose and use CBCT scan technology in an everyday dental practice.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Differentiate between medical CT and Conebeam CT technology with respect to dosimetry, acquisition mode, image quality, artifacts etc.
  2. Describe the applications of Conebeam CT technology
  3. Understand the orientation and Multiplanar reconstructed images
  4. Discuss the applications of third party software in pre-implant surgical planning.
  5. Discuss legal issues
