2010 Lecturer: Prof. Samer Abi Nader, B.SC., D.M.D., M.SC., F.R.C.D. (C), PROSTHODONTIST
 

Prof. Samer Abi-Nader Doctor Abi Nader attended McGill University were he earned a Degree in Physiology before completing his Dental Degree at the Université de Montréal in 2000. After a one year multidisciplinary residency program at the Jewish General Hospital, he completed his training in Prosthodontics at the University of Montreal. Currently, he is the director of the Division of Restorative Dentistry in McGill University. In addition to his academic position, Doctor Abi Nader holds a part time practice in the Jewish General Hospital dental clinics and the Montreal General Hospital Faculty Dental Practice.

Implant Dentistry: A Systemic Approach

The objective of the course is to provide the clinician with a predictable and systematic approach that would assure a successful treatment in various situations. The theoretical component will review basic principles of the implant supported restoration for the partially edentulous patient, highlight new concepts as well as delineate current clinically relevant concepts. A series of clinical cases will be presented and discussed along with some common problems and their solutions. Finally, a variety of "tips, tricks" and technical refinements will be presented to the practitioner.

  • Case selection: Patient selection, intra-oral site evaluation, basis of Osseointegration
  • Treatment planning: Bone mapping, implant selection, implant position
  • Case preparations: Sequencing implant therapy
  • Communication with the specialist: Principles of surgical guide fabrication
  • Treatment delivery: Understanding the fundamentals of cement and screw retained prosthesis
  • Interactive case presentation: Step-by-Step procedures with "tips and tricks" for the practitioner
