2008 Lecturer: Steve Kinney
 

Steve Kinney Steve Kinney is the Asia Regional Manager and Forensic Specialist for Aribex, the manufacturer of the NOMAD handheld, battery powered, intraoral x-ray generator that gained international recognition as an essential tool in mass casualty victim identification during the 2004 Asian tsunami and the Hurricane Katrina disaster in late 2005.

Steve is very hands-on in his work for Aribex, having spent nearly a year in the morgues of Phuket where the NOMAD was first introduced and used by DVI experts from over 38 nations. Subsequently, Steve has liaised with forensic teams in numerous land, sea and air disasters, conducted on-scene training, and coordinated workshops and seminars around the world.

He has lectured on the merits of handheld radiography before such prestigious groups as the British Association for Human Identification in the Netherlands, the Asia Pacific Defence Forces Conference in Jakarta, the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry 2007 in Hong Kong, the U21 Health Sciences Symposium in Hong Kong, the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology in Cape Town -- and of course, the 2007 Caribbean Dental Convention.

With over 30 years of forensic investigation experience, 22 of which have involved analytical instrumentation and x-ray imaging, Steve is dedicated to bringing revolutionary new technologies to the forensic community that lead to indelible advances in the clinical world.

Steve Kinney's lecture will chronicle the successful use of the handheld dental NOMAD x-ray equipment, techniques and case studies. This radiographic system is uniquely designed for use within dental surgical units and all clinical settings, disaster victim identification and investigative environments.

Steve will also have exciting news at the Barbados meeting as he introduces Aribex's latest, previously unreleased handheld x-ray advancements and their applications.
