Dr. Alex Fleury received his Masters of Science Degree in Oral Biology and Certificate in Endodontics from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine. He received his DDS degree in 1984 from the Universidad de São Paulo. A former Assistant Professor and Director of Predoctoral Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Fleury currently serves as Assistant Professor of Endodontics at The Baylor College of Dentistry. Of particular pride is being named the recipient of the "Edward E. Osetek Award" for best Endodontics Educator of the Year by the American Association of Endodontists. In addition, Dr. Fleury is honored to have been the recipient of the "Richard F. Weiss Achievement Award" presented by the Louis I. Grossman Study Club (University of Pennsylvania). Dr. Fleury currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Journal Of Endodontics and lectures extensively for Real World Endo.

"The Endo-Restorative Continuum"

The lecture segment of this presentation will concentrate on two areas.
- How to perform Endodontics in a predictable, reproducible manner, and
- How to do root canal therapy in such a manner that you actually enhance the long-term prognosis of the tooth. The goal of this program is to have dentists learn how to perform endodontics in such a way that they can offer their patients a long-term natural dentition option as an alternative to implants.
Included in the lecture component will be a thorough discussion concerning access, non-surgical ultrasonic use, rotary file design, instrumentation techniques, and various obturation options. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing endodontic synchronicity between a machined preparation and a laser verified primary or single cone. Additionally, various techniques will be discussed that will facilitate the restoration of the endodontically treated tooth. Participants will have the opportunity to validate all these concepts during the hands-on session.
The hands-on session provides the participants the opportunity to use Precision-Based techniques to machine a preparation and obturate canals utilizing the latest Real World Endo technology. Time will be dedicated to Preventing the Separation of Rotary Files, as well as, developing safe and efficient techniques.
Digital radiography and the use of ultrasonics will also be available to course participants. We will deliver "Just the Facts... Nothing but the Facts".
Course Objectives - During this lecture/hands-on participants will learn:
- How to create straight-line access that will expedite the endodontic process.
- The multiple benefits of piezo electric ultrasonics.
- Which ultrasonic tips are ideal for endodontic application.
- The difference between landed and non-landed rotary files.
- How to machine or mill an endodontic preparation.
- The benefits of developing endodontic synchronicity between a machined preparation and a cone.
- The multiple advantages of performing a constant .04 taper preparation.
- A new adhesion based obturation technique.
- How best to restore an endodontically treated tooth.
- Most importantly of all, how to perform endodontics in such a manner that you do not compromise the long-term retention of the tooth. In fact, learn how to do endodontics so that you actually enhance the long-term retention of the tooth.
