Dr. Victor H. Eastmond is the Chairman of Caribbean Dental Program Inc. He qualified at the Royal Dental Hospital (RDH), University of London in 1974. He did house jobs at RDH and St. Georges Hospital in Maxillo-Facial Surgery for six months before moving to Edgeware General Hospital as Senior House Surgeon. Nine months after graduating, he left the hospital post to work in a General Dental Practice in South London. He returned to his native home, Barbados, in 1979 where he now manages a ten chair operatory at Rosedale Dental Centre of which he is the Principal. The practice employs one periodontist, four hygienists, three general dental surgeons, one dental technician, himself and thirteen ancillary staff.
In 1998 he gained his certification in Forensic Odontology from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and a certificate in diagnostic radiography in 1968 from the Royal Free Hospital, U. Lon. He has lectured to the Barbados branch of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and continues to work closely with that department when requested to assist with dental forensics.
He is the past chairman of the Barbados Dental Council, a past President of the Barbados Dental Association, the Caribbean Atlantic Regional Dental Association and the Commonwealth Dental Association. He is the immediate past chairman of the Barbados Examination Boards for both Dentists and Technicians and a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Dr. Eastmond has been placing implants since 1992.
He has acted as a consultant for the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM) to produce guidelines for accreditation for dental education within the English-speaking Caribbean. He was honoured in November 2007 by the Bahamas Dental Association with "The Distinguished Service Award' which was presented by the President of FDI, Dr. Burton Conrod.
Dr. Eastmond is the programme coordinator for the 2009 CDP programme.
