MAJ (Dr.) Paul Colthirst received an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from George Washington University, a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University, a Masters/residency Dental Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College.
He has held numerous positions as a military officer to include, Dental Public Health Staff officer at the Dental Command HQ (DENCOM), Ft Sam Houston, Texas; Small Group leader/Class Advisor, for the Advance Officer Course, Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio Texas and currently, chief of dental epidemiology at the Dental Trauma and Research Detachment, San Antonio Texas.
MAJ Colthirst Awards include: Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal (3rd Award) Army Achievement Medal (3 awards); Valorous Unit Citation; Public Health Service Corp Unit Citation Medal; Public Health Corp Citation Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; University of Iowa School of Dentistry Graduate Research Award, and the American Academy of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) Graduate Research Award.
MAJ (Dr.) Paul Colthirst delivered the 47th Annual Jamaica Dental Association keynote Address, 2011 and presented on the Integrated Combat Casualty Care Systems: Dental Service Support in a Theater of Operation and the Way ahead and on the Identification of Child Abuse and Neglect: A visual guide for Dental Healthcare Personnel.

The epidemiology of Child Abuse and Neglect and introduce the P.A.N.D.A. (Prevent Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness) process to the working group.

The Epidemiology of Child Abuse and Neglect
He will lecture on the Epidemiology of Child Abuse and Neglect and introduce the P.A.N.D.A. (Prevent Abuse and Neglect through Dental Awareness) process to the working group. Delegates will be provided with the existing systems that prevail within the USA.
