Why and How Immediate Loading: A Case Report
Sunday, April 11, 2010 @ 10:00 am

The development of a direct bone -to- implant interface that is predictable and consistent in outcome is the primary goal in implant dentistry. The early surgical and prosthetic protocols were established by Branemark in 1977 and involved a two stage surgical process leading to the restoration of the implants. The growing expectations of patients and dentists coupled with advances in technology, scientific evidence, surgical and restorative protocols, implants are placed and restored (loaded) the same day. The benefits of this paradigm belong to the patient and a network of professionals including, but not limited to, the restoring and surgical dentists and the laboratory technician. This presentation will focus on the history, scientific evidence and the ever increasing improvements in technology of Immediate Loading. A case involving a partially dentate patient that had all mandibular teeth extracted, implants placed and loaded with a provisional restoration within several hours.
